Subject: Car Accident on Mine & Black Diamond (Riser Pole Replacement)
Here is the story of what happened last Friday, November 20, 2009 at approximately 7:00 a.m.
A woman, was driving a car heading east on Mine Avenue. She ran a stop sign at the intersection of Mine Avenue and Black Diamond and struck a truck. The truck was driven by an off-duty Ameren worker, who was heading north on Black Diamond. The truck flipped over and hit one of our riser poles.
Lou called Tim at approximately 7:15 a.m. and asked him to go to the scene. When Tim arrived, the woman had already been taken by ambulance to the hospital although her injuries were not serious. Tim disconnected the power from a switching cabinet across the street and then grounded the lines laying across the truck. Within 15 seconds the driver left the vehicle and Tim was able to talk to him he also was not seriously injured. The driver of the truck told Tim that he thought he heard arcing, so he stayed in his truck for over an hour until the power could be turned off. Tim reported that one of the lines was, in fact, still energized.
